The calculation now uses more refined algorithms to better account for technical terrain and race conditions. The aim is to avoid the scoring gaps sometimes seen between a fast, runnable course and a high-mountain trail with the same amount of elevation gain. The system is more granular across each distance category: 10K, 20K, 50K, 100K and 100M.
