2026 European Trail Championships: How to watch every race live from Ljubljana-Kamnik
The third edition of the European Trail and Mountain Running Championships takes place in Ljubljana-Kamnik, Slovenia, from June 5 to 7, with every race streamed live on the European Athletics YouTube channel. MY TRAILS has everything you need to follow this major European event.
France has been making its mark on the international trail scene for several years now, establishing itself as one of the world’s leading nations. On Friday, a competition the French team knows well gets underway in Slovenia. The European Trail and Mountain Running Championships return with the competition’s new Off-Road format, featuring three events: Uphill, Up and Down, and Trail. A record 593 athletes from 33 countries will take part in the third edition of this continental meeting in Ljubljana-Kamnik, up from 480 athletes representing 30 countries in 2024.
In Annecy in 2024, the French team dominated the medal table, winning 22 medals, half of them gold. That was twice the haul collected in 2022 in the Canary Islands, where the French squad claimed 11 medals, including five titles. With France once again fielding strong contenders among both the senior and junior ranks, there is little reason to expect the team to surrender its privileged position on the global trail scene. The French delegation therefore arrives in northern Slovenia with plenty of ambition and determination. A total of 31 French athletes, 16 men and 15 women, will represent the country, including Frédéric Tranchand, the 2025 short trail world champion in Canfranc.
