The oldest running race in France, the SaintéLyon is a mythical monument of night trail running linking Saint-Étienne to Lyon. The start is given at midnight in the heart of a December night, plunging thousands of runners into a glowing caterpillar of headlamps winding through the Monts du Lyonnais.
The 78-kilometre course alternates between tracks, technical trails and stretches of asphalt, exposed to often harsh winter conditions of snow, black ice and mud. As the night unfolds, the fairytale atmosphere at the aid stations warms the effort before a gradual descent towards the Lyon metropolis and a festive finish at Halle Tony Garnier. Offered solo or as a relay, as well as across several shorter distances, the event remains an unmissable rite of passage on the calendar.
