Tahiti to host the 2026 Ultra League Final at the Tahiti Moorea Ultra Trail

French Polynesia is gearing up for an extraordinary event: the Ultra League Final, held on October 23 alongside the Tahiti Moorea Ultra Trail (TMUT). Around 1,700 trail runners are expected across its five race formats.

October 23 to 25, 2026, 1,700 trail runners will take on the unique playground of the Tahiti Moorea Ultra Trail, host event for the 2026 Ultra League Final, amid the raw, wild and technical mountains found only on islands like these.

Between turquoise lagoons, tropical forests and volcanic ridgelines, this legendary and demanding race promises, as it did in its first edition in 2025, total immersion in the wild beauty of French Polynesia.

Five race formats on the schedule

The Ultra League Final will follow an extended 105 km course with 3,900 m of elevation gain, compared with 80 km and 4,000 m of elevation gain in 2025. It will start from Temae Beach on October 23 at 8 p.m.

Four other race formats will be open to a wider field:

55 km / 2,500 m elevation gain, starting on October 24 at 7 a.m. from Ta'ahiamanu Beach
35 km / 1,500 m elevation gain, starting on October 24 at 9 a.m. from Vai'anae
20 km / 720 m elevation gain, starting on October 24 at 10 a.m. from Afareiatu
10 km / 250 m elevation gain, starting on October 24 at 11 a.m. from Teavaro

Every finish will be recorded on the paradise beach of Temae.

Qualified runners and big-name invitees line up for the Ultra League Final

Participants in this final earned their golden ticket either by completing all four races on the Ultra League circuit over the past two seasons, namely the Western Azuréenne, the Trail de Haute Provence, Ultra 01, or the Grand Raid Kiprun 3 Vallées-Moûtiers or by finishing on the podium at one of these qualifying races.

In Moorea, everyone starts from zero: among the qualifiers, the first across the finish line will be crowned 2026 Ultra League Champion. The runners competing on wild cards, who did not earn their golden ticket on the course, will race for the VODAFONE TMUT title.

The 105 km race will bring together an elite field featuring several ultra-trail heavyweights, including a number of invited athletes:

Louis Calais: Winner of the 2026 Ultra Terrestre (224 km / 14,300 m elevation gain in Réunion), winner of the 2026 Échappée Belle (147 km / 11,000 m elevation gain), winner of the 2023 SwissPeaks 360 (366 km / 27,000 m elevation gain)
Alexis Sevennec : Winner of the Restonica Trail by UTMB (111 km / 7,200 m elevation gain), and a regular on ski mountaineering podiums
Delbi Villa Gongora: Third at the 2026 Val d’Aran by UTMB (163 km / 10,000 m elevation gain), runner-up at the 2025 TMUT.
Yoann Lecauchois: Defending TMUT and 2025 Ultra League champion, winner of the 2025 Trail de Haute-Provence (168 km / 7,320 m elevation gain)
Anthony Pipitone: Winner of the 2026 Trail de Haute-Provence (165 km / 7,000 m elevation gain), third at the 2026 PicaPica (109 km / 11,500 m elevation gain)
Mickael Retaux : Winner of the 2026 Tiger Balm Ultra 01 (172 km / 8,500 m elevation gain)
Benoît Ribeiro: Runner-up at the 2026 Western Azuréenne (165 km / 5,000 m elevation gain)
Charly Guerin : Third at the 2026 Western Azuréenne (165 km / 5,000 m elevation gain)
Catherine Musso: Third at the 2026 Grand Raid Kiprun 3 Vallées-Moûtiers (170 km / 12,000 m elevation gain)
