In September, Crans-Montana, above the Rhone Valley, hosts the Wildstrubel by UTMBยฎ, first held in 2022. The courses link Valais with the canton of Bern around the Wildstrubel massif in the Bernese Alps, and the longest race crosses the Gemmi Pass. Alpine trails, high pastures and high-altitude sections make for demanding mountain terrain, where the elevation gain builds up pass after pass.
The 113 km, with 6,600 m of elevation gain, is a loop from Crans-Montana, while the 53 km starts in Adelboden and the 26 km in Leukerbad, both finishing at the resort. A 70 km and a 12 km complete the programme. A stop on the UTMBยฎ World Series, the event offers races from 12 km to a 113 km ultra and is one of the major events among races in Switzerland.
