The Blue Mountains provide the setting for the Ultra-Trail Australia by UTMB, around Katoomba in New South Wales. Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, this mountain range alternates between sandstone cliffs, forests and vegetation-covered valleys.
The 100 km course follows the ridges and trails of Kedumba Valley before returning towards Katoomba. The famous Furber Steps, with their 951 steps, form one of the race's final sections. The shorter formats also cover parts of the mountain range.
