Ultra Trail du Beaujolais Vert

Starting from Lac des Sapins, the Ultra Trail du Beaujolais Vert takes runners on a journey of discovery through a region largely dominated by forests and rugged terrain. The trails cross the rolling landscapes of western Beaujolais, winding through woodland, dirt tracks and small villages such as Saint-Nizier-d’Azergues, Lamure-sur-Azergues and Grandris. On the longer courses, runners climb as high as the Pyramide and Mont Soubran before returning to the valleys of Beaujolais Vert. In clear weather, some sections even offer views as far as Mont Blanc. The route alternates between climbs and descents, with a very large majority of natural trails. The event also stands out for its friendly atmosphere around Lac des Sapins, where runners come together before and after the race. It is a wonderful way to explore a side of Beaujolais far from the vineyards, in the heart of a wilder, more forested region.
