In March, the Tenerife Bluetrail by UTMB® crosses Tenerife, in the Canary Islands, from the south of the island to Martiánez beach in Puerto de la Cruz. The route passes at the foot of Teide, in a national park listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and climbs above 3,500 m. Black lava flows, Canary pine and laurel forests, sections above the sea of clouds: the volcanic terrain alternates long climbs with fast descents towards the ocean.
First held in 2011 and part of the UTMB® World Series since 2024, the event offers races from 24 km to 110 km: the 110 km with 6,250 m of elevation gain, a 73 km, a 47 km run solo or as a two-person relay, a 24 km and a Vertical Night Challenge. It is one of the major events among races in the Canary Islands.
