Amid the spectacular landscapes of Utah, the Moab 240 takes runners on an extraordinary 240-mile journey, or nearly 386 km, between desert and high mountains. Starting in Moab, the course winds through the regionโs red earth and sandstone formations, with Canyonlands and Arches National Parks as a backdrop. Runners then make their way into the La Sal Mountains, whose peaks rise above 3,000 meters, before descending once again toward the arid, mineral-rich landscapes surrounding Moab.
The contrast is striking between the heat of the canyons, the cold of the high elevations, and the long desert sections covered by day and night. Over several days, managing sleep, nutrition, and exertion becomes just as important as speed. The aid stations set up along the course then serve as true landmarks in this vast wilderness. The Moab 240 is therefore as much an ultradistance adventure as it is a race, set in one of the most spectacular landscapes of the American West.
