In northern Thailand, the HOKA Chiang Mai Thailand by UTMB takes trail runners through the mountains and tropical forests of the Chiang Mai region. The trails alternate between wooded sections, steep slopes, and mountain paths, winding through dense vegetation where heat and humidity add an extra challenge.
The routes cross several iconic mountain ranges in the north of the country, including Doi Inthanon, the highest point in Thailand. Along the way, runners also discover villages and local communities, which are an integral part of the event’s identity. Several race formats offer different ways to take on the terrain, from a short trail race to an ultra of more than 170 km. A major event on the UTMB World Series circuit in the Asia-Pacific, the race combines a sporting challenge with the discovery of a region known for its unique landscapes and culture.
