Grand Raid Kiprun 3 Vallées Moûtiers: everything you need to know about the July 30 to August 2, 2026 debut
Tarentaise is getting a new trail fixture with the first edition of the Grand Raid Kiprun 3 Vallées, staged from July 30 to August 2, 2026. With seven race formats, from 10 km to a 170 km ultra, it’s a deep dive into Les 3 Vallées and its seven flagship resorts: Brides-les-Bains, Méribel, Courchevel, Val Thorens, Les Menuires, Orelle and Les Belleville.
For this inaugural edition, the organizers are already seeing strong momentum, with 1,600 runners signed up. The next target is to hit 1,800 entrants as race day approaches. Numbers that underline mountain trail running’s growing pull, and the appetite for new events that offer a real range of formats.
Seven formats to explore or test your limits
The Grand Raid Kiprun 3 Vallées has opted for an especially broad program to speak to different crowds. From short trail to an ultra well beyond 100 km, everyone can find their challenge. The most popular race so far is Les Balcons de Saint-Jean (29 km), with 29.1% of entries, ahead of the Marathon des 3 Vallées (50 km) at 23.9%.
On the longer distances, Le Défi de la Masse (70 km) accounts for 11.8% of registrations, while L’Odyssée de Caron (111 km) draws 11.5% of runners. L’Ultra des 3 Vallées (170 km), the event’s true XXL challenge, already represents 10% of the field. The more accessible options round out the schedule with L’Étoilée des Thermes (13 km), bringing in 8.5% of participants, plus the L’Ultra des 3 Vallées 8-person relay, which makes up 5.1% of entries.
An inaugural edition with an international feel
The Grand Raid Kiprun 3 Vallées will reach well beyond Savoie. A total of 90 French departments will be represented at this first edition. The event also has an international dimension, with 14 nationalities on the start lists. Among the best-represented foreign countries are Belgium, Italy and the United Kingdom.
Unsurprisingly, the region is the biggest talent pool: 48% of runners come from Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, including 19% from Savoie. Île-de-France is another major feeder, with 16% of registrants.
Our ambition for several years has also been to show that the Les 3 Vallées experience doesn’t end when winter does. Our promise, Infinite Mountain Experiences, is easy to put into words: to deliver powerful, demanding and unforgettable mountain experiences all year round. And that’s exactly where trail running fits. Because beyond being the world’s biggest ski area, Les 3 Vallées are also one of Europe’s most challenging trail playgrounds.
A new fixture on the French trail calendar
With its XXL centerpiece, seven distances and an exceptional playground in Tarentaise, the Grand Raid Kiprun 3 Vallées aims to become a lasting name among the big mountain trail dates.
From discovering Alpine singletrack to chasing a result on the toughest courses, the event wants to offer runners the full package in one of the French Alps’ most iconic areas. This first edition will set the tone for the years ahead, with strong early buy-in even before the start gun.
What the favorites are saying
I’m really happy to be part of the very first Grand Raid Kiprun 3 Vallées-Moutiers. I’ll be on the start line on August 1 for the Marathon des 3 Vallées. I can’t wait to discover a varied course in the heart of Tarentaise. It’ll be one month before my next big goal, the CCC, so it’s the perfect chance to fine-tune my build-up.
What’s driving me to race the Grand Raid Kiprun 3 Vallées-Moûtiers? The terrain is spot on and the timing is ideal. The race sits really well in my calendar in relation to UTMB week. That means I can get in a solid tune-up race on terrain and at an altitude that are almost the same as the CCC. It’s also close to home in Chambéry, which keeps travel to a minimum and lets me race in landscapes I know well, because I regularly run in Les 3 Vallées and in Tarentaise. And since Kiprun is a partner of the event, it matters to me to represent the brand that supports me and has allowed me to compete at a high level for almost three years now.
